Head coach Bill Brown completed his 15th season at Wittenberg in 2007-08. Overall, no program has been more victorious. Consider the facts: Since 1911, the Wittenberg men's program is first in victories, second in winning percentage (.716), and first in NCAA appearances and wins. Wittenberg has not had a losing season since 1955 and since 1970 as had twenty-eight 20 win seasons. Brown, a defensive strategist, is a former Wittenberg graduate who took over the reins in 1993-94. Aware of the winning tradition, Brown has continued the great success. Under Brown, the Tigers have compiled a .801 winning percentage, have won six conference titles, and made nine NCAA appearances. Prior to coming to Wittenberg, Brown coached at Kenyon and Wooster colleges (D3) and was an assistant at Ohio University (D1). The Tigers finished with an overall mark of 16-10 in 2007-08 but did not receive an NCAA bid.

Wittenberg plays in the North Coast Athletic Conference (www.northcoast.org) comprised of 10 schools from Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. Wittenberg and main rival, College of Wooster, are the perrenial powers. Over the last 17 years, only once has either Wooster or Wittenberg not won the NCAC. League play commences in early December. All teams but two are played twice, home and away. Games are often played on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons and are piggybacked with the women's. The farthest away game is at Allegheny, about 300 miles from Springfield. The season concludes with the NCAC tourney which takes the top eight teams and the tourney winner receiving an automatic NCAA berth.
