Head coach Dino Gaudio takes over from Skip Prosser in 2007-08. Prosser, who died unexpectedly, produced four 20+ winning seasons and made three NCAA appearances in his seven year stint. In 2003, Wake Forest won the ACC regular season title outright for the first time in more than 40 years. A former head coach at the Division I level for seven years, Gaudio spent the 06-07 season as an associate head coach under Prosser. Gaudio coached at Army for four seasons (1994-97) and at Loyola (MD) College for three years (1998-2000). The Demon Deacons have struggled the last two seasons, going 17-17 in 2005-06 and 15-16 in 2006-07.

Wake Forest plays in the Atlantic Coast Conference (www.theacc.collegesports.com) which has long enjoyed the reputation as one of the strongest and most competitive conferences at the D1 level. The conference is comprised of twelve teams from six states. With the expansion to 12 teams in 2005, the ACC schedule could no longer accommodate a home-and-away series between every pair of teams each season. In the new scheduling model, each team is assigned two permanent partners and nine rotating partners over a three-year period. Wake Forest will play a 16 game schedule, playing six teams twice, home and away, and the remainder once. League play commences in January with games often played on Wednesday evenings and Saturday or Sunday afternoon. The season concludes with the ACC tourney which includes all teams with the top five teams receiving first round byes. Tournament winner is an automatic qualifier.
