Misc. Information

Head coach Elaine Elliott enters her 25th season at Utah in 2007-08. To some degree, the women's program has been overshadowed by the success of the men's basketball program but in women's college hoops, Utah ranks as one of the premier programs in the West. Utah's overall program won-loss record is 694-271. Since the program's inception in 1974-75, Utah has had only one losing season. More recent success is credited to Elliott who had some big shoes to fill when she took over the program in 1983-84 after Fern Gardner compiled an 227-62 record over the previous nine seasons. Elliott did not disappoint. For her 24 seasons at Utah, Elliott has led the Utes to 13 NCAA appearances and nine conference championships while averaging 21 wins per season. In conference play during the 1990's, Utah's came in first or second eight times, never finishing lower than third. A former four-sport athlete at Boise State, Elliott was the first woman inducted into the Boise State Hall of Fame. Elliott stepped into the head coaching position after serving as an assistant for four years. In 2006-07, the Utes went 18-14 and lost in the second round of the WNIT to Illinois.
