Ralph Hodge enters his 29th season as ONU's head coach in 2007-08. Hodge inherited a successful program in 1979-80 that had only three losing seasons in the previous 13. Hodge, Olivet's winningest coach, has retained the winning tradition and made Olivet Nazarene one of the most consistent winning NAIA teams in the country. Through 28 seasons, Hodge has posted 577 wins. Over that span, Hodge's teams have won 20 or more games 17 times and won 13 conference championships. During the decade of the 1990's, the Tigers went 266-122 with seven post season tournament appearances and six conference championships. A former Olivet graduate, Hodge was an NAIA honorable mention All American and Olivet's career leading scorer. Hodge had just finished his third season as the head coach of Alwood High School when he was asked to take over the program in 1979-80. In 2006-07, the Tigers posted a 17-12 record but were eliminated in the first round of the NAIA tournament by Park.

Olivet plays in the Chicagoland Conference (www.ccacon.com). The CCAC is comprised of 15 NAIA Division I and II schools; seven schools, however, comprise the NAIA Division I conference. The are located in Indiana and Illinois. It is generally regarded among one of the nation's strongest NAIA conferences. The 12 game league schedule commences in January with games more often than not played on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Olivet will play each team twice, home and away. The season concludes with the CCAC tourney which includes all teams, with the conference champion having home court advantage throughout and receives a first round bye. If the top seed is defeated before the championship game, the highest remaining seed hosts the final game.
St. Xavier, Purdue-Calumet, U. of St. Francis, Indiana-South Bend, Illinois Tech, and Robert Morris.

Hodge prefers to play man-to-man, but will occasionally run a 2-3 zone and a trapping zone press. Generally runs a motion offense that has a number of variations from one set. Likes to use the 3, 4 and 5 men.
