Head coach Kirk Martin completed his 7th year at Cedarville in 2007-08. Martin inherited a program that had not experienced a consistent winning formula since the 1970s. In seven years, Martin catapulted the Lady Jackets onto the national scene. In his first season, he went 23-10 and set the school record with the most number of wins. To prove it was not a fluke, he shattered the record his second year winning 31 games. Martin has been on a roll since. His 2003-04 squad was the NAIA national runner-up. Martin came back to his alma mater in 2001-02 after developing Southeastern High School into one of Ohio's elite Div. 4 programs, exiting with a 297-34 record. Coming off a 27-7 record in 2006-07 and a Final 4 appearance, Martin was humbled in 2007-08 and went 17-14.

Cedarville plays in the American Mideast Conference (www.amcsports.org) the largest and one of the most formidable conferences in the NAIA. The conference has recently expanded and is now comprised of schools outside of Ohio. There are now 16 teams in two divisions: North and South. Cedarville plays in the South and plays each team twice in its own division only, home and away. Conference play can begin in December but non-league opponents are mixed in until January. League games, more often than not, are played on Tuesday and Saturdays and are piggybacked with the men's. The season concludes with the AMC tourney with the top AMC South team playing the top AMC North team to determine the overall AMC champion. Both of those teams get automatic berths in the NAIA II Tournament. The next four teams in each division square off with the tourney winner getting the third and final automatic berth in the NAIA II Tournament.
South: Shawnee State, Ursuline, Walsh, Rio Grande, Ohio Dominican, Wilberforce, and Mt. Vernon Nazarene.
