Wingate plays in the South Atlantic Conference (www.thesac.com) which is comprised of nine religious-based schools from South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Conference play begins in January and each opponent is played twice, home and away. League games are usually played on Wednesdays and Saturdays and are piggybacked with the men's. The farthest conference away game is at Carson-Newman about 230 miles from campus. The season concludes with the SAC conference which takes all eight teams with the winner receiving an automatic NCAA berth.
Carson-Newman, Presbyterian, Newberry, Catawba, Mars-Hill, Lenior-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial, and Tusculum. Presbyterian will move from D2 to D1 in 2007-08.
