Misc. Information

Head coach Krista Gerlich enters her second season at West Texas A&M in 2007-08. Gerlich took over from Bob Schneider who coached the Lady Buffs for 25 seasons and made it one of the best D2 programs in the nation as attested by an overall won-loss record of 593-176. Prior to joining West Texas A&M, Gerlich spent the last three seasons as an assistant to Marsha Sharp at Texas Tech. During her time in Lubbock, Gerlich helped guide the Lady Raiders to two NCAA tournament appearances. Gerlich got her first coaching job at Lockney High School. During a stellar playing career at Texas Tech, Gerlich played shooting guard from 1989-93 and helped guide the squad to the 1993 National Championship. She also ranks third in assists and her number 21 was retired and now hangs in the rafters at the United Spirit Arena. Coming off a 28-4 mark in 2005-06, Gerlich proved she was the right person for the job, guiding the Lady Buffs to a 28-5 mark (14-0 in league) in 2006-07 and advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA tourney before falling to Clayton State.
