Washburn plays in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Conference (www.themiaa.com) which is comprised of ten teams from Missouri and Kansas. Washburn begins league play after January 1 and will play each conference member twice, home and away. The 18 league games are often played on Wednesdays and Saturdays and are frequently piggybacked with the women's. The farthest conference away game is at Truman State, about a four hour drive from campus. The season concludes with the MIAA tourney which takes the top eight teams with the eventual winner receiving an automatic NCAA berth.
