William Jewell plays in the Heart of America Conference (www.haaconference.com) which is made up of 11 schools from Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. The conference is generally regarded as one of the strongest at the NAIA II level. The conference schedule can start in late November or early December with games often played on Thursday and Saturday evenings. Jewell plays each team twice, home and away. The men's games are usually piggybacked with the women's. The season concludes with the HAAC conference tournament, made up of the top eight teams in the conference standings. The conference tournament champion gets the conference’s first automatic berth into the NAIA II national tournament. The conference’s second automatic berth is filled by either the No. 1 or No. 2 in the final standings – depending on the outcome of the tournament.
