Head coach Stew Morrill completed his 10th season at Utah State in 2007-08. Arriving in 1998-99, Morrill followed Larry Eustachy who had produced five consecutive winning seasons and a .650 winning percentage. Morrill has equalled that and more. Over the last eight seasons, Morrill has posted a .743 winning percentage, won three conference championships, and made seven post season appearances. In 2000 and 2001 he produced identical 28-6 records. For his career, Morrill ranks 24th among active coaches in winning percentage. A former player and assistant coach at Gonzaga, Morrill served as an assistant to Mike Montgomery at Montana before being handed the reins in 1987. In 2007-08, the Aggies finished with a 24-11 record and lost in the first round of the NIT tourney to Illinois State.

Utah State moved from the Big West Conference to the Western Athletic Conference (www.wacsports.com) in 2005-06. The WAC is a highly competitive athletic conference serving the needs of western universities who fit between national powerhouses and small college programs. Among D1 conferences it is considered average strength. It is comprised of nine teams from seven states. Utah State plays 16 game schedule beginning in January. Utah State will play each team twice, home and away. The farthest conference away game is Hawii, some 3,000 miles from campus. The season concludes with the WAC tournameent (explain seeding)
Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, New Mexico State, and San Jose State.
