Misc. Information

Head coach Gene Roebuck enters his 21st season at UND in 2007-08. Roebuck currently boasts one of the highest winning percentage among active D2 coaches and North Dakota ranks first among D2 programs profiled at CBSAguide. Roebuck, who took over the program in 1987-88, captured thee consecutive national championships in 1997, 1998, and 1999. Prior to his arrival, UND had 13 seasons of barely .500 ball and only two NCAA tournament appearances. The last time Roebuck's team posted fewer than 20 wins was in 1989. A former basketball and baseball player at Mayville State, Roebuck got his first coaching assignment at UND-Lake Region where he went 87-14 in three seasons. In 2006-07, the Sioux finished with a 32-4 record. They advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA tourney before losing to Florida Gulf Coast.

The conference is now comprised of seven teams from four states. League play, consisting of 12 games, begins in January. Conference play is generally on Thursday or Friday evening and Saturday afternoon with games piggybacked with the men's. The season concludes with the NCC tourney which includes all seven teams with first round byes for the top seeds. The winner receives an automatic NCAA bid.
