Head coach Gail Goestenkors begins her first season at Texas in 2007-08. Goestenkors takes over from the legendary Jody Conradt who amassed 900 college career victories - second only to Pat Summit's 947 - and led the Longhorns to 21 NCAA appearances over 31 years. However, Goestenkors is a legend of her own making after a distinguished 15-year tenure at Duke University where she compiled a 396-99 record and led the Blue Devils to 13 consecutive NCAA Championship appearances while winning twelve national coach of the year honors. The Longhorns finished with a disappointing 13-15 record in 2005-06 but did rebound somewhat in 2006-07 going 18-14.
