Brian Beaury completed his 22nd season as head coach at St. Rose in 2007-08. Among D2 programs, St. Rose is nationally recognized. Beaury is ranked among the top 15 active D2 coaches in winning percentage. In 22 years, Beaury has never had a losing season and has averaged 22 wins per season. During the 1990's, St. Rose had the 4th best winning percentage in the nation. Prior to 2000-01, St. Rose competed in the New York Athletic Conference where the Golden Knights won five consecutive conference titles and made six NCAA appearances. Moving over to the Northeast 10 has proved more difficult though the team has posted a respectable record through the last seven seasons. Beaury, a standout player and team captain and MVP at St. Rose in the early 80's, broke into the coaching ranks at the age of 21, serving as St. Rose's assistant coach for two years before taking over in 1986-87. In 2007-08, the team posted a 23-8 record but fell in the second round of the NCAA tourney to Assumption.

Saint Rose plays in the Northeast 10, the second largest D2 conference, which is comprised of 15 schools from the greater New England area. It is generally regarded as one of the more competitive D2 conferences. The preseason is very short with teams commencing league play around Thanksgiving. However, games against non-league opponents are mixed in during the season. Games are usually played on Tuesday or Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Many of the games are piggybacked with the women's. The season concludes with the Northeast 10 Tourney which includes 12 teams with first round byes for the top four teams. The winner receives an automatic NCAA berth.
