Heach coach Nathan Altenhofen completed his first season in 2007-08, taking over a program that has a long history of success. Altenhofen took the reins from Amy Eagan who did a fine job in her short two years ( 47-18). Altenhofen most recently served as head coach for the Odessa JC College Lady Wranglers from 2004-2007, leading them to an impressive 80-15 record, finishing his final two seasons with a 68-3 record, which was the best mark in all of college basketball. Altenhofen began his college coaching career at Arkansas State University. In 2007-08, the Queen Bees went 29-6 but lost in the second round of the NAIA tournament to Morningside.

Eagan's philosophy is to have her players get up and down the floor and run an up tempo fast break style of play. Man to man defense is their bread and butter. In 2005-06, St. Ambrose was ranked #11 in defense, limiting the opposition to 57.2 ppg. In 2006-07, they were ranked # 19 at 59.8 ppg.
