Head coach Jeff Oliver completed his sixth season at Cal State San Bernadino in 2007-08. Oliver took over from Larry Reynolds who produced a 110-35 record after just five years including four NCAA appearances. Oliver continued the program's winning ways by going 23-7 his first year (2002-03) and making a Sweet 16 appearance and capturing the team's fourth consecutive conference title. This was quite an accomplishment for the former assistant coach as Oliver started with 10 new players and only one returning starter and was coming off a season in which the 01-02 team posted the best won-loss record among all D2 teams and was ranked third nationally in scoring defense! After a 26-6 mark in 2006-07, the Coyotes went 22-8 in 2007-08 but lost in the first round of NCAA tourney to BYU-Hawaii.

CSUSB plays in one of the most competitive D2 conferences in the nation, the California Collegiate Athletic Association(www.goccaa.org). The CCAA is comprised of 12 teams, all in California. League play commences in early December due to the high number of conference contests (22); the pre-season is relatively short. Opponents are played twice, home and away. Conference games are generally played on Friday and Saturday evenings. Currently, the CCAA does not offer an end-of-season conference tournament. The regular season conference champion receives and automatic berth in the NCAA tourney.
