Salem State plays in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (www.masac.com) which is comprised of seven teams from Massachusetts. Among D3 conferences, it is not considered particularly strong. League play commences in January after a two week winter break. Salem State will play each team twice, home and away. Games are usually played on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays and Saturdays are piggybacked with the men's. The farthest conference away game is at Mass College of Liberal Arts some 180 miles from Salem. The season concludes with the MSCAC tourney which includes the top four teams, hosted by the regular season champion. Tourney winner receives automatic NCAA berth.
