Regis University is a small, private, liberal arts university. It was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1877. It is comprised of three Schools - Regis College, the Rueckert-Hartman School for Health Professions and the School for Professional Studies. It offers some 50 programs areas, including Environmental Studies, Women Studies, Business, Resource Management, Counseling and Education. Over 60% of those attending are women. Head coach Linda Raunig enters her 18th season at Regis in 2007-08. Raunig has compiled a 303-178 career record and, since 2001, has qualified for the NCAA tourney five times and produced six consecutive 20+ winning seasons. Raunig, whose teams are known for their academic success as well as basketball prowess, was an assistant coach at three D1 schools (Ball State, Washington State, and Arizona State) before coming to Regis in 1990-91. An outstanding prep and collegiate player at the University of Denver (17ppg and 995 rebounds), Raunig led the Rangers to a 26-6 mark in 2006-07, losing to North Dakota in the second round of the NCAA tourney.

Regis plays in the highly regarded Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (www.rmacsports.org). The RMAC is comprised of 14 teams from Colorado, Nebraska, and New Mexico, It is split into two divisions, east and west. Regis plays in the east and will play each team in its own division twice, the other division once. Conference play can begin in December but same division games don't begin until January. Conference games are usually played on Saturdays plus one mid-week game (Wed or Friday) and are often piggybacked with the men's. The season concludes with the RMAC tourney which takes the top eight teams and the two division winners getting the top seeds. Tourney winner receives automatic NCAA berth.
East: Colorado State-Pueblo, U. Nebraska-Kearney, Chaldron St., Metro State, Colorado Christian, Western New Mexico, and Colorado Mines. West: Fort Lewis, U. Colorado-Colorado Springs, New Mexico Highlands, Adams St., Mesa State and Western St.

Raunig runs a high-octane offense and likes the 3. In 2006-07, Regis was ranked 9th in scoring offense at 77.6 ppg.
