John Greene enters his 7th season overseeing the Rensselaer women’s basketball program in 2007-08. Prior to his arrival at Rensselaer in 2001-02, Greene spent two years at the University of Bridgeport (D2) and three years at Western New England (D3), trying to turn around two lackluster progams. Before coaching at WNEC, Greene served as the boys’ varsity basketball coach at Chatham (MA) High School. He has also coached girls at the scholastic level and men in the junior college ranks. In his first season, Greene led the Red Hawks to an 18-6 regular season record and a berth in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament. During his short six year tenure Greene is 100-57. In 2006-07, the Red Hawks improved to 16-11.

Rensselaer plays in the Liberty League (www.libertyleaguesports.org) which is comprised of eight small schools all in New York. Rensselaer begins its 14 game conference schedule in January, playing each team twice home and away. Games are often played on Fridays and Saturdays and are piggybacked with the men's. The season concludes with the post-season tourney which takes seven teams with the eventual winner receiving an NCAA bid.
