Head coach Sharon Versyp enters her second year at Purdue in 2007-08. Versyp had big shoes to fill; taking over from Kristy Curry who through seven seasons produced a 179-51 mark. Versyp came to Purdue following a one year head coaching stint at Indiana and, before that, was head coach at Maine where she went 98-51 over five seasons. For her six years as a head coach, Versyp sports a 147-71 record (.674). Versyp started her coaching career at the prep level (Lawrence North HS in Indianapolis) and later assisted at Louisville and James Madison. Versyp was a high school standout - 1984 Indiana Miss Basketball - and played college ball at Purdue, starting all four years. In her inaugural season, Versyp showed she was up to the challenge; taking the Boilermakers to 31-6 mark in 2006-07 and an Elite 8 appearance before falling to North Carolina - the same team that knocked them out the year before.
