Head coach Sasha Palmer (formerly Sasha Leverentz) begins her first season in 2007-08 and first as a head coach. Palmer replaces Jodi Gault who completed her 25th season at Pittsburgh-Johnstown in 2006-07. Palmer has big shoes to fill. Gault produced .776 winning percentage, averaged over 21 wins, and made 16 NCAA appearances over the last 25 seasons. Since inception, the women's program has won 686 games against just 181 losses. Palmer spent four seasons as the assistant women’s coach at Shippensburg - a program also profiled at CBSAguide - where her duties included recruiting and working with the post players. A native of Watertown, Wisconsin, Palmer is a 2000 graduate of Northern Michigan where she had an outstanding playing career for the Wildcats. Palmer also played professionally in Europe. In 2006-07, Lady Cats finished at 21-8, their fifth consecutive 20+ winning season and advanced to the NCAA second round before getting beat by Indiana (PA).

After playing an independent schedule for several years, Pittsburgh-Johnstown joined the West Virigina Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (www.wviac.org) in 2006-07. It is one of the oldest D2 conferences. Of the 16 teams all except Pittsburgh-Johnstown and Seton Hill are from West Virginia. Conference play can start in early December though non-confernence opponents are scheduled until January. For 2006-07, the schedule will be mixed. The Lady Cats begin playing a league schedule and competing for conference championships in 2007-08. The WVIAC tourney takes all teams (top seed gets a first round bye) with the winner receiving an automatic berth in the NCAA tourney.
