Travis Ford takes over from Sean Sutton at OK State in 2008-09. Sean Sutton, son of legendary Eddie Sutton who made Oklahoma State a power in the Big 12 while guiding the Cowboys to 13 NCAA appearances, coached for two years. Ford, who led turnarounds at three different schools, came most recently from UMASS where he compiled at 62-35 record in three seasons. The former U. of Kentucky graduate, also spent five seasons at Eastern Kentucky and three at Campbellsville. Ford began his collegiate playing career at the University of Missouri before transferring to Kentucky. In 2007-08, OK State went 17-16 and lost in the first round of the NIT to Southern Illinois.

Oklahoma State plays in the Big 12 which is regarded as one of the most difficult conferences in the nation. The Big 12 (http://big12sports.ocsn.com) is comprised of 12 teams from seven different states in two divisions. Oklahoma State plays in the south division. The Cowboys play a 16 game schedule, playing five teams twice and the remainder once. Conference play begins in January with games typically played on Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon. The season concludes with the Big 12 tourney which takes all 12 teams with the top four receiving first round byes. Tournament winner receives an automatic NCAA berth.
South: Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, and Baylor. North: Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas State, Missouri, Kansas and Iowa State.
