Completing her 22nd season at Ohio Wesleyan in 2007-08 is head coach Nan Carney-DeBord. The winningest coach in Ohio Wesleyan history, Carney-DeBord is a six time conference coach of the year and has nearly 400 victories to her credit. Carney-DeBord came to OWU in 1986-87 from Bethany College where she was the head field hockey coach and assistant basketball coach. Carney-DeBord played at Deninson University (D3) where she lettered four times in basketball and field hockey. A wing and point guard in basketball, she was team captain and MVP as a senior. In seven of the last ten years, the Battling Bishops have finished either first or second in conference play, had four 20+ winning season, and made three NCAA appearances including a Final Four. In 2007-08, Carney-DeBord produced a 18-8 record but did not make the NCAA tourney.

Ohio Wesleyan plays in the North Coast Athletic Conference or NCAC (www.northcoast.org). The NCAC is comprised of ten schools from Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. Conference play can commence in early December though non-conference opponents are scheduled in until January. There is a two week winter break. League games are usually played on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. The season concludes with the NCAC tournament which takes the top eight teams with the tourney champion receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Div. III Tournament.
