Head coach Doug Tolin completed his 8th seasn at OBU in 2007-08. Tolin inherited a storied program in 2000-01 -- a program that had averaged 26 wins per season over the previous ten years and whose last losing season was in 1992. Tolin, who coached at Norman High School prior to his arrival at OBU, has continued the winning tradition by posting a 219-65 record in his short tenure while making eight consecutive NAIA tournament appearances including winning the national championship in 2002. Interestingly, Tolin is assisted by his son Kyle. Coming off a 21-11 record and NAIA second round appearance in 2006-07, the Bison went 24-10 in 2007-08 and lost in the Sweet 16 of the NAIA tourney to Campbellsville..

Oklahoma Baptist plays in the Sooner Athletic Conference (www.soonerathletic.org) which is recognized as one of the strongest NAIA conferences in the nation. The SAC is comprised of 10 schools from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas League plays starts in early January with games usually on Thursday and Saturdays. OBU plays each team twice, home and away. The farthest conference game is at Lubbock Christian, about 325 miles from campus. The season concludes with the SAC tourney which takes the top eight teams in order of final conference standings. Winner is an automatic NAIA tournament qualifier.
