Head coach Don Flanagan enters his 13th season at UNM in 2007-08. In the four years prior to Flanagan's arrival in 1995-96, the women's program recorded just 14 wins against 96 losses. In his first year Flanagan won 14 games and snapped a 54 game road losing streak. Flanagan has guided the Lobos to 11 consecutive winning seasons and ten straight postseason appearances, including seven trips to the NCAA Tournament while producing nine 20+ winning seasons. Attendance, which was dismal before Flanagan took over, has skyrocketed. UNM plays in the Pit, recognized among the top 20 sporting venues in the nation, where the Lobos win more than 80% of their games. Flanagan is one of the few modern day coaches that went from coaching high school (Eldorado High) to the college D1 ranks. His prep record was an astonishing 401-13 mark for a 97 percent winning percentage. Flanagan played collegiate basketball at Fort Lewis all four years. In 2006-07, the Lobos went 24-9 and lost in the second round of the NCAA tourney to Wisconsin-Green Bay.
