Founded in 1971, Liberty offers over 50 bachelor degree and 11 Masters, including Nursing, Education, Ministry, Business and Law. Doctoral degrees are offered in several areas including Education, Counseling, and Religion. Other majors offered include Family & Consumer Sciences, Journalism, Computer Science, and Sport and Fitness Administration. Head coach Carey Green enters his 9th season at Liberty in 2007-08. Green inherited a program in 1999-00 that had begun to turn around, collecting three 20+ winning seasons before his arrival. That was fine with Green who had previously spent 12 seasons at Clemson as an assistant. During his tenure at Clemson, the Tigers averaged 22 wins per season and made 11 NCAA appearances. In his first year at Liberty, Green went 23-8, captured the Big South conference title, and advanced to the first round of the NCAA. In eight ears, Green has posted a .742 winning percentage, captured seven conference titles, and made seven NCAA apperances. Green, who stresses defense, led the Lady Flames to a 19-12 record in 2006-07 breaking a string of 10 consecutive NCAA appearances.

Liberty plays in the Big South (www.bigsouthsports.com) which is comprised of eight schools located in Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Liberty dominates the Big South, having lost a total of just seven games in the last eight years. Liberty currently plays a 14 game schedule with play starting in January with one weekday game and another on Saturday evening. Liberty will play each team twice, home and away. The farthest conference away game is at Birmingham Southern nearly 600 miles from campus. The season concludes with the Big South tourney which takes . . (tbp, explain seeding)
Birmingham Southern, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, High Point, Radford, UNC Ashville, and Winthrop. Presbyterian College and Gardner-Webb will join in 2007-08 and Birmingham-Southern will move to D III.
