Head coach Van Chancellor enters his first season in 2007-08. Chancellor takes over from Pokey Chatman, who over four years, produced a 109-19 winning record and made four consecutive final four appearances. Chancellor, who coached at Mississippi for 19 years and produced a 439-154 record, comes to LSU after most recently coaching the WNBA Houston Comets for 10 years. During his tenure there, he led his teams to the playoffs nine times while winning 4 WNBA championships. In 2006-07, the Lady Tigers went 30-8 and made it to the Final 4 before falling to Rutgers. It was the program's fourth consecutive Final 4 appearance.

LSU plays in the Southeastern Conference (www.secsports.com). The conference is made up of 12 teams from nine states and is split into two divisions, east and west. LSU plays in the west. Currrently, LSU plays a 14 game schedule. League play commences after January 1. The season concludes with the SEC tourney with the winner of the 11-game tournament receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The tournament seeds and conference champion are determined by the 14-game regular-season SEC schedule. The top four seeds earn a first-round bye.
East: Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. West: Mississippi St., Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, and Missisippi.
