Head coach Rob Colbert completed his 9th season at Keene State in 2007-08. Colbert served as an assistant coach for two years before being handed the reins in 1999-00. He inherited a program that had posted eight losing seasons in the previous ten. During Colbert's short tenure the Owls have posted a 178-76 record, averaging 20 wins per season. Colbert produced a 25-6 record in 2003-04 and advanced to the NCAA Elite 8. It was the program's most wins since inception and its first trip to the NCAA. Colbert broke into the coaching ranks as a high school coach and then assistant coach at Bard College. Before coming to Keene, Colbert spent two years as head coach at Dutchess Community College. In 2007-08, the Owls went 16-11.

Keene State plays in the Little East Conference (www.littleeast.com) which is comprised of eight schools from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. League play, consisting of 14 games, begins in December but non-conference opponents are scheduled until January. Teams play each other twice, home and away, with games typically played on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The The season concludes with the LEC tourney which takes all eight teams with the top four receiving first round byes. The winner receives an automatic NCAA berth.
