Head coach Bill Fennelly enters his 13th season in 2007-08. Prior to Fennelly's arrival in 1995-96, Iowa State's women's program had only five winning seasons in the previous 22 years and never participated in post-season play. Fennelly has orchestrated one of the biggest turnarounds in women's basketball. In his first year, he took the Cyclones to a 17-10 record and doubled home attendance. Over the past 11 years, Fennelly has guided the Cyclones to eight NCAA appearances and two conference championships. Attendance, which had dwindled to less than 1000 before he arrived, has increased 10x making the Cyclones among the top 10 teams in the nation in attendance. Prior to coming to Iowa State, Fennelly coached at Toledo where he complied a 166-53 record. In 2006-07, the Cyclones went 26-9 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tourney before falling to Georgia.
