Steve Platt completed his 14th year in 2007-08 as the Forester's head coach. Huntington's most successful coach, Platt has guided the Foresters to five conference tourney titles, four conference championships, and seven national NAIA tournament appearances in 14 years. As a player for Huntington from 1970-74, Platt was an Indiana basketball icon and still holds the state record for career points (3,700). Platt was a 4x All District Player of the Year and NAIA All American. Platt was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996 and the NAIA Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. Interestingly, Steve's son (Ty) was recently added to the coaching staff. In 2007-08, Huntington finished with a 22-10 record but did not receive an NAIA tournament bid.

Huntington plays in the Mid Central Conference (www.mid-centralconf.org), one of the oldest NAIA conferences. All nine schools that make up the conference are located in Indiana. Conference play can begin in late November or early December with a number of non-league opponents mixed in until January. The farthest conference game is at Marian some 115 miles from campus. More often than not, games are played on Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon. Huntington will play each team twice, home and away. The season concludes with the MCC tourney which includes all teams with the winner receiving an automatic berth at the NAIA National tournament.
