Henderson State plays in the Gulf South Conference (www.gulfsouthconference.org) which is the largest D2 conference in the nation, comprised of 18 teams from six southeastern states. The GSC is divided into two divisions and Henderson plays in the West division. Conference play starts after January 1 with games typically played on Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings. Though there are two divisions, there is no cross-divisional play. Henderson plays each team twice in its own Division. The season concludes with the Gulf South tourney where all members play a double round robin versus teams in their own division. The top four teams in each division advance to the single elimination tourney and the winner is an automatic NCAA bid.
