Head coach Tobin Anderson completed his fourth year at Hamilton in 2007-08. One of the oldest programs in the nation (the first basketball game was played in 1899), Hamilton's men's program is well-known in NY state due to the tremendous success of former coach Tom Murphy. During Murphy's 33 years, the Continentals never had a losing season. Anderson came to Hamilton in 2004-05 after successfully re-energizing conference-rival Clarkson, a program that had not had a winning season in 21 years. Prior to that, Anderson seved as an assistant coach at LeMoyne. A graduate of Wesleyan University (CT), Anderson was a four-year starter and the progam's fifth all-time leading scorer. Interestingly, Anderson is assisted by his father (Steve). Following a mediocre inaugural season in 2004-05 going 15-11 - the program's worst showing since 1997 - Anderson led the Continentals to a 23-5 record in 2005-06. In 2007-08 the Continentals went 17-9.

Hamilton competes in the Liberty League (www.libertyleaguesports.org) which is comprised of eight small colleges, all in New York. Conference and non-conference opponents are scheduled early in the season though a three to four week break at Xmas is customary. Hamilton will play each team twice, home and away. Games are usually played on Tuesday and/or Friday and Saturday evenings. The primary travel mode is school van or bus. The season concludes with the post-season tourney which takes seven teams with the eventual winner receiving an NCAA bid.
