Head coach Linc Darner completed his second season in 2007-08. Darner took over from Tony Longa in 2006-07. Longa put up a 125-52 record over six years. Over the last 25 years, the Mocs have won 20 or more games 21 times. Darner inherited a team that entered the 2006-07 season with 22 consecutive winning seasons, the second longest streak in NCAA Division II. Darner was chosen from a field of 152 applicants who took a once-struggling St. Joseph’s (Ind.) program to a 30-win season in 2006. In his four years at St. Joseph he produced a 74-45 record. Darner enjoyed a four-year playing career (1991-94) at Purdue under legendary coach Gene Keady. Disaster beset Darner his first year as he was only able to garner 8 wins against 20 losses, breaking a string of 22 consecutive winning seasons. However, in 2007-08, Darner redeemed himself when he went 24-9 and made a first round appearance in the NCAA tourney, losing to Quachita Baptist.
