Head coach Fred Richter completed his 18th season at DeSales in 2007-08. Richter took over a highly successful program in 1990-91 and has done a good job of keeping the winning tradition alive. With only one losing season in 17 years, Richter has averaged 19 wins per season and has produced seven 20+ winning seasons. Over the last eight years, Richter's winning percentage is a sizzling .763. Prior to taking over at DeSales, Richter was a successful high school coach at Quakertown - where he still teaches. Richter played college ball at East Stroudsburg University. In 2007-08, the Bulldogs went 26-4 and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 before falling to Howard Payne.

DeSales plays in the super-competitive the Middle Atlantic Freedom Conference (www.lvc.edu/mac) which is comprised of eight schools from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Though conference play can begin in December, non-conference opponents are mixed in until January. DeSales will play each team twice, home and away for a total of 14 games. Games are typically played on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The season concludes with a tourney within each division, with the top four teams in each qualifying. Each winner receives an automatic NCAA berth.
MAC Freedon: King's, Scranton, Delaware Valley, Lycoming, Drew, Farleigh-Dickinson, and Wilkes.
