Head coach Ken Ammann completed his 7th season at Concordia in 2007-08. Prior to Ammann's arrival in 2001-02, Concordia had amassed just three 20-win seasons in the previous 21 years of the program's existence and could not gain any consistency. Under Ammann, the Eagles have averaged 27 wins over his first seven seasons and in 2003 and 2004 produced win totals of 36 and 33 respectively. In 2003 he led the Eagles to the NAIA National Championship and National runner-up in 2004 and 2007. Ammann attended Edison High School in Huntington Beach where he was a first-team all-state guard. He eventually wound up at Stanford where he played two years under Mike Montgomery, starting every game while averaging 12 ppg. Ammann's assistant coaching experiences include San Jose State, Pepperdine University, and immediatley before coming to Concordia, Azusa Pacific. In 2007-08, the Eagles went 28-5 but lost in the first round of the NAIA tournament to Campbellsville.

Concordia plays in the Golden State Athletic Conference (www.gsacsports.org) which is comprised of 11 church-related institutions, all in Southern California. Among NAIA conferences, it is considered one of the most competitive. League play starts in late November or early December though non-league games are mixed in until January. Conference games are often played on Tuesday and Saturday evenings and are piggybacked with the women. Concordia will play each team twice, home and away, with the farthest away game is at Westmont (Santa Barbara) some 120 miles from campus. The conference winner gets an automatic NAIA bid as does the winner of the eight-team GSAC tourney.
Westmont, Biola, California Baptist, Christian Heritage, Fresno Pacific, Hope International, The Masters, Point Loma, Azusa Pacific, and Vanguard.
