University of Chicago plays in the University Athletic Association (www.uaa@rochester.edu) which is comprised of eight major urban research universities in seven different states. Among D3 conferences, it is one of the most competitive. Conference play starts in January with games often played on Friday and Sunday afternoons. Chicago plays each team twice, home and away. Games are often piggybacked with the women's. The farthest conference away game is at Brandeis some 850 miles from Chicago. The season concludes with the UAA tourney which includes all teams in a double round-robin format with the winner receiving an automatic berth in the NCAA tourney.
