California plays in the western division of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (www.psacsports.org), one of the largest and most respected D2 conferences in the nation. The 14 schools, all in Pennsylvania, are split into two divisions, east and west. The 12 game league schedule commences in January. California plays each team in its division twice, home and away. Games played against eastern division teams do not count as part of the division record. League games are often played on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons and piggybacked with the men's. The season concludes with the PSAC tournament which takes the top four teams from each division with crossover play starting in the semi-finals. The winner receives an automatic NCAA berth.
East: Millersville, West Chester, Bloomsburg, Kutztown, Cheyney, E. Stroudsburg, and Mansfield. West: Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, Indiana (PA), Clarion, Lock Haven, and Edinboro.
