Head coach Scott Davis takes over from Paul Thomas in 2007-08. Davis has big shoes to fill. Under Thomas, the Broncos caputured two national championships (the program has 5 overall), four conference titles, and made eight NCAA appearances - including four Sweet 16s in the last eight years - making Cal Poly Pomona one of the most feared D2 programs in the nation. Winning is nothing new to Pomona. Since the program's inception in 1975, Cal Poly has had 20 or more victories 25 times! Davis spent the 2006-2007 season as an assistant coach at Sonoma State, which enjoyed its first NCAA Division II women’s basketball postseason berth since 2004. In 2005-2006, he served as an assistant at Division I Sacramento State. Davis served three record-setting seasons (2002-2005) as head coach at NAIA Dominican University where he complied a 81-20 record. In 2006-07, the Broncos went 9-18.

Cal Poly Pomona plays in one of the most competitive D2 conferences in the nation, the California Collegiate Athletic Association(www.goccaa.org). The CCAA is comprised of 12 teams, all in California. League play commences in early December due to the high number of conference contests (22); the pre-season is relatively short. Opponents are played twice, home and away. Conference games are generally played on Friday and Saturday evenings. Currently, the CCAA does not offer an end-of-season conference tournament. The regular season conference champion receives and automatic berth in the NCAA tourney.
CS Bakersfield, CS Monterey Bay, CS Los Angeles, CS San Bernadino, CS Stanislaus, Sonoma State, Chico State, CS Dominquez Hills, Humboldt State, San Francisco State, and UC San Diego. Note: Cal State Monterey Bay is a provisional member. Cal State Bakersfield, which is transitioning to Division I, will compete in the CCAA in 2006-07, but will be ineligible for postseason play.
