Head coach Marguerite Gualtieri completed her 10th season at Staten Island in 2007-08. Staten Island has only recently placed itself among the top D3 programs, registering 10 of 12 losing seasons prior to the Dolphin's rennaissance period beginning in 1996-97. Much of the credit goes to Gualtieri who has made three NCAA appearances and won the conference title four times. Over the last eight years, Gualtieri has averaged nearly 20 wins per season. Prior to coming to Staten Island, Gualtieri coached at Long Island University (D1) for nine seasons where at that time she was the youngest coach at the D1 level at the age of 22. Gualtieri was a standout prep player and was named Athlete of the Year at Hofstra. In 2007-08, the Dolphins finished at 21-8.
