Technically, Chico's women's program does not meet our criteria for inclusion among the best D2 programs. However, the program's recent success and the credentials of the new coach lead us to believe this program will continue to thrive. Head coach Molly Goodenbour enters her second season in 2007-08. Molly took over from Lynne Roberts who posted a 86-31 record during her five year tenure. Goodenbour came from USF where she was an assistant coach and, before that, Santa Rosa JC where she led her teams to a 69-21 record in three seasons. Goodenbour, a former point guard at Stanford who played on two NCAA championship teams, also played professionally in Europe and for the WNBA's Sacramento Monarchs. Goodenbour completed her inaugural season in 2007 in fine fashion going 24-5 and making it to the Sweet 16 before falling to UC San Diego.
