Head coach Jodie Burton enters her 28th season at the helm of the Athenas basketball program in 2007-08 and will be seeking to extend the remarkable run of her teams over the last 18 years. During that time the Athenas have won six Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) crowns, finished second ten times and have gone 176-64 SCIAC play. Eight of those teams have won 20 or more games and four have advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs. In 2006-07, the Athenas produced a 15-10 record breaking their string of three consecutive 20+ winning seasons.

Claremont McKenna is a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (www.thesciac.org) which is comprised of eight teams -- all from Southern California. The Athena's 14 game schedule involves playing each team twice, home and away. The farthest conference game is at Cal Lutheran about 100 miles from Claremont. Games are typically played on Thursdays and Saturdays and many piggybacked with the men's. The season concludes with the SCIAC conference winner getting an automatic NCAA berth . Currently, there is no end-of-season conference tournament. (Note: Harvey Mudd and Scripps College - members of the Claremont Colleges - pool their athletic programs with Claremont McKenna.)
