Head coach Jay Lawson completed his 18th season at Bentley in 2007-08. Prior to Bentley, Lawson was an assistant coach at Dartmouth. Since coming to Waltham, Lawson has had only one losing season while averaging 18 wins per season. However, the last three seasons have been especially productive going 87-11. In 2007 Lawson turned in his best year with a 32-1 mark and went 22-0 in league play. That's quite an accomplishment considering that Bentley plays in perhaps the toughest D2 conference in the nation - the Northeast 10. In 2007-08, Lawson bested his prior best record by going 34-1 and advanced to the NCAA Final 4 before falling to Winona State, the same team that beat them last year. It was the Falcons fourth consecutive NCAA appearance.

Bentley plays in the Northeast 10 (www.northeast10.org) which has established itself as the premier D2 conference. It is the second largest conference made up of 15 schools from six New England States. The 22 game league schedule starts in late November or early December though non-conference opponents are scheduled up until January 1. League games are usually played on Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon and are piggybacked with the women's. Because the league is so large, not every team is played the customary 2x. The season concludes with the Northeast 10 Tourney which includes 12 teams with first round byes for the top four teams. The winner receives an automatic NCAA berth.
