Head coach Tom Cosgrove completed his sixth season at Adelphi in 2007-08. Prior to coming to the Long Island school in 2002-03, Cosgrove spent five seasons as head coach at Endicott College. A St. Anselm alumni, Cosgrove was a two-time all-conference selection and was conference rookie of the year in 1984. Upon his arrival, Cosgrove inherited a team that had gone undefeated the year before and was the perrenial team-to-beat in conference play. Cosgrove wasted no time proving he was the right person for the job, going 28-3 in his inaugural debut. During his short tenure, Cosgrove has averaged 21 wins per season while making three NCAA appearances. In 2007-08, Cosgrove led the Panthers to a 20-10 mark.

Adelphi belongs to the East Coast Conference (www.eastcoastconference.org). The ECC, formerly the New York College Athletic Association, is the offspring of several single-sport college conferences which existed in the New York City Metropolitan Area in the 1960's, 70's and 80's. Compared to other D2 divisions, the ECC is not as competitive -- at least in men's basketeball. There are 11 members and teams play a 20 game league schedule - each team twice, home and away. League play can commence in late November or early December with conference games usually played on Wednesdays and Saturdays with many games piggybacked with the women's. The top eight teams play in a post-season tourney with the winner getting automatic bid to the NCAA tourney.
