Head coach Kristen Patterson takes over from Peter Cinella in 2007-08. Cinella vaulted the Yellow Jackets onto the national scene by assembling fourteen consecutive winning seasons, averaging 20 wins per year and relying on good defense. Throw in nine trips to the NCAA tournament and it's no wonder that Patterson has big shoes to fill. Patterson, an assistant coach for AIC for the past four seasons, is currently the seventh-youngest head coach in Division II women’s basketball. During the time she was Cinella's top assistant, the Yellow Jackets posted a 94-31 (.752) record. Arguably the greatest female student-athlete to attend AIC, Patterson holds school records for career assists, free throws and fourth in career scoring (1,539 points). Coming off a 26-8 record in 2005-06, the Yellow Jackets finished at 21-8 in 2006-07 but lost in the first round of the NCAA tourney to Pace.
